
Steph Gemm (Stephanie Gemmell) is a music producer, film composer, and screenwriter currently based in the Mid-Atlantic.

Music
Steph earned her Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Music Studies from Berklee College of Music in 2024, concentrating on music production and film scoring. As a composer, producer, and mix engineer, Steph specializes in empowering emerging artists to make their creative visions a reality. She draws on her experience as a music lessons instructor, freelance writer, and consultant to holistically collaborate with artists and creative professionals across mediums. Steph supports artists in developing work that reflects their unique voice and creative perspective.
Steph has produced and released EPs and singles that feature her passions for synthesis, sound design, and multi-instrumental performance. Her independent label releases include an award-winning remix of Zeynep Erbay’s “Chemical Love” on Soul Clap Records and the single “That Side of Paradise” on Sunwaves Digital. Other recent projects include a media scoring project for award-winning poet and screenwriter Douglas Cole, and a portfolio of film cues developed with the mentorship of GRAMMY-nominated producer and film composer Kristen Personius.
Steph is grateful to be a recipient of the 2025 Theresa Velasquez Memorial Fellowship for music production from Femme House. She is also thankful to be a 2025 We Are Moving The Needle studio microgrant recipient and an alumna of She Is The Music and GRAMMY U mentorship programs.
Writing
Steph completed Georgetown’s Screenwriting certificate program in 2024, developing a feature screenplay and multiple short scripts. Her feature screenplay “Surfing in the Desert” was a finalist for the Bellem Entertainment Fellowship to Stowe Story Labs in 2025. Her short screenplay “Where Her World Begins” was a finalist in the 2025 Chicago Script Awards and quarter-finalist for the 2025 Inroads Screenwriting Fellowship. An excerpt of her investigative drama pilot “Incomplete Origins” appeared in Last Syllable Magazine in 2024.
Steph has served as a regular contributor for Puttylike Media and books editor for Inklette Magazine. Her poetry has been featured in Oxford Public Philosophy, The Ekphrastic Review, Just Place Chapbook, Capitol Letters, and in anthologies published by Day Eight and Moonstone Arts. Her interdisciplinary research has appeared in the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa and The Peer Review. Steph is grateful to be a 2024 Phi Beta Kappa professional development grant recipient for screenwriting and an alumna of The Glen Workshop fellowship programs.
